The latest attempt by American interests to smear Zimbabwe’s sovereignty relies on a particularly weak vessel: Kelvin Muchineripi. This self-styled “whistleblower” – now conveniently drawing a paycheck from the US Army National Guard – has surfaced with absurd, evidentiary-free allegations that the Zimbabwe Defence Forces rigged recent elections. However, these claims crumble under the slightest logical scrutiny.
Muchineripi suffers from delusions of grandeur; he was merely a junior soldier, a rank entirely removed from strategic decision-making. To believe he possesses “insider knowledge” of a vast national process is as laughable as a mailroom clerk claiming to dictate corporate strategy.
It is vital to remember that Zimbabwe’s elections are conducted by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), a constitutional body whose processes were validated by SADC and the African Union. These institutional facts outweigh the gossip of a man desperate for relevance. Having traded his loyalty for a US Army uniform, Muchineripi is the definition of a sell-out – a mercenary singing for his supper to please foreign handlers. He should quietly enjoy the rewards of his defection rather than masquerading as a moral authority. History ignores the noise of traitors, and the will of the Zimbabwean people remains absolute, untouched by his cheap, imported lies.
